Chicago Zine Fest will highlight many talented self-published artists, and give artist a chance to interact with each other. Zine Fest will feature tons of informative workshops that are sure to appeal to everyone. And for you early risers I’ll be working at the info table. So make sure you stop by and say hello.

The Houston Public Library and Domy Books presents Graphic Novel Day on Saturday, September 18 from 11 AM till 5 PM. This is an exciting day of discussion and workshops featuring your favorite graphic noveliestt. All events are FREE and open to the public. The event will be located at the Central Library on the 4th Floor.

Enjoy your own lunch during a special visit from critically-acclaimed graphic novelists Terry Moore, Barbara Slate, Esther Pearl Watson, and Gene Luen Yang. All of whom will be available to sign copies of their books after the panel discussion. The panel will be moderated by Tuan Nguyen.

Comics Medium Workshop by Gene Luen Yang/ 11 AM
Join us for a special workshop led by graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese), who will discuss creating stories using comics as a medium. The focus will be on the features of the comic medium that that distinguish it from other media, defining fey terms such as comics, panel size, panel transitions and panel composition, and direct participants as they work in groups to solve storytelling problems.
You Can Do a Graphic Novel by novelist Barbara Slate/ 3:30 PM
Being led by graphic novelist Barbara Slate (You Can Do a Graphic Novel), participants will receive the inspiration and know-how to get their stories from their head onto paper through the graphic novel.
